A Drink at 7pm: Pino Pipoli’s Vodka Martini
Originally from Bari but living in Livorno, Pino Pipoli is an eclectic and multitasking creative talent: artist, set designer, art director and product designer. With so much going on, it’s hard to establish a daily routine. But, if there’s one place he likes to come back to, it’s Dry. So, we asked him to tell us about his favourite drink: a very specific Vodka Martini.
“I grew up in Bari, but my chameleonic nature took me to Cologne, where my inclinations as an all-round artist just exploded. Today I am gazing at the ships on the horizon from Livorno and my work will range from editorials to fashion and from art to needlework.
I study and drink in Milan. It was an old friend Tiziano Vudafieri who involved me in the Pisacco and Dry adventure. I am an enthusiast for liquors and pure spirits: their tart, dry and woody aromas with slight hints of tobacco. Like rare perfumes from times gone by.
I’ve never been a fan of cocktails. The only one that I drink, and only in bars that I know well, is a Vodka Martini with toasted rosemary. It reminds me of the southern world. It has an ancestral flavour that takes me back to my birth as an artist.”
